Katie Mathews, a former participant of NeuroRestorative Avalon Park in Orlando, was recently profiled on abilities.com for her inspiring story of rebuilding her life after a spinal cord injury and her mission to help others.
Katie became paralyzed in 2006 as a result of a car accident caused by distracted driving and has committed to using her injury to raise awareness about the dangers of using cell phones and other devices while operating a vehicle. With the help of her service dog Cowboy, Katie now serves as a motivational speaker who encourages others to stay safe and to persevere during difficult times.
