At NeuroRestorative Academy, our programs are specifically designed for children and youth who are recovering from injuries or living with medical and behavioral support needs. We strive to provide a fun, supportive setting where students can grow, thrive, and receive the personal attention they deserve. This mission comes to life through the dedicated work of our team members, such as Will Bollinger, the Fitness Coordinator at our NeuroRestorative Academy in Carbondale.
Redefining Physical Education
In many traditional school settings, physical education challenges can feel out of reach for students with diverse ability levels. Will Bollinger wanted to change that narrative. He created Club 3000, an annual optional challenge designed to mirror conventional school fitness tests while remaining accessible to every student.
Club 3000 aims to give every student an opportunity to succeed and take pride in their own progress. Will meets students exactly where they are on their fitness journey, ensuring the program is inclusive and encouraging.
The Power of 3,000 Reps
The challenge takes place over seven weeks. To join the ranks of Club 3000, students work to complete 1,000 repetitions each of jumping jacks, sit-ups, and squats.
For those looking to push even further, there is an additional “The Elite” category. Students earn this title by completing an extra 1,000 reps of mountain climbers. These milestones allow kids to challenge themselves in ways others might not expect, proving that their potential is far greater than any label might suggest.
From “I Don’t Know” to “I Can”
The transformation that happens over those seven weeks is truly inspirational. Will often sees students start the challenge with a hesitant “I don’t know if I can do it.” As the weeks progress and the repetitions add up, that doubt turns into a confident “I think I can.” This success builds incredible confidence and an impact that lasts long after the seven weeks are over. Club 3000 challengers frequently approach Will to ask for additional exercises they can do outside of class.
