But Rebecca’s story was far from over. With a spirit as resilient as the heroes in her favorite novels, she began her healing journey. Supported by her dedicated husband and our therapy team, Rebecca moved through her recovery with steady determination.
After months of being unable to leave her bed, Rebecca progressed from requiring a mechanical lift to mastering sliding board transfers and eventually self-propelling her own wheelchair.
She transitioned from a PEG tube to enjoying soft, bite-sized meals and regained the ability to manage her daily activities with only minimal assistance.
Every Wednesday, Rebecca found a special kind of motivation working with Oso, our therapy dog. Their walks together provided more than just physical exercise; they offered a sense of comfort and a reminder of the pets waiting for her at home.
Rebecca has officially discharged home, where she continues to sharpen her skills with home health services.
She isn’t just looking back at how far she’s come—she’s looking forward to her next great adventure: a family trip to Disney World. Rebecca’s journey reminds us all that with the right support and a lot of heart, “happily ever after” is always worth the work.
