Employee Highlight: Dr. Marissa Cruz, PT, DPT, CBIS, Co-Author of The Guide to Providing Physical Therapy in the Home 4th Edition
Dr. Marissa Cruz, PT, DPT, CBIS, Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Geriatrics, Clinical Director, NeuroRestorative Southeast MI, is a co-author in the book “The Guide to Providing Physical Therapy in the Home 4th Edition.” These efforts were part of a three and a half year project that was produced with funding from the American Physical Therapy Associations’ Home Health Section.
Dr. Cruz is the lead author of two chapters, “The Musculoskeletal System” and “Safety in the Home.” The book was a collaborative effort from colleagues throughout the USA and is now available for purchase. The group plans to disseminate this work to universities and governing bodies, as it is considered to be the gold standard of the provision of care in the home by physical therapists.
Dr. Cruz has worked as a primary physical therapist and Director in various clinical settings. She received her Master’s in Physical Therapy from Central Michigan University and her Doctorate from Simmons College. She is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Geriatrics and an active member of several professional organizations. She has presented at both the state and national levels and authored peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed publications. She has been with the NeuroRestorative team for seven years. As Clinical Director, Dr. Cruz oversees the delivery of clinical and administrative services for Southeast Michigan.
